PRE-CARE

Please follow all pre-procedural instructions to ensure the best possible results. Failure to do so may result in excessive bleeding, increased sensitivity, and poor retention.

24 hours prior to your appointment:

  • No coffee, tea or any caffeinated beverages.

  • No alcohol.

48 hours prior:

  • Avoid Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Advil/Ibruprofen.

  • Refrain from taking Fish Oils, Primrose Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes, or “Hair, Skin & Nail” Supplements.

  • Refrain from getting lip filler 4 weeks before or after the procedure.

Additional Guidelines:

    •    Please begin applying any lip balm to ensure your lips become moisturized for the appointment. Dry and chapped lips will not tattoo well during the procedure and may cause loss of colour. If you have any cold sores or extremely chapped lips, please rebook your appointment.

    •    If you have a history of cold sores, we strongly recommend taking an antiviral medication (e.g., Valtrex). Consult your doctor for the appropriate dosage and instructions.

    •    Even if you have never had a cold sore before, the virus may be dormant in your system, and trauma from the procedure can trigger an outbreak.

*Please note you may feel more sensitive if you are on your menstrual cycle.

AFTER CARE

During the healing process of Lip Blush, your lips will go through several stages:

Day 1-2: Initial Healing
Right after the procedure, your lips may appear swollen, red, and slightly darker than expected. This is completely normal as the pigment settles into the skin. Some slight tenderness or discomfort may occur but should subside within the first 24-48 hours.

Day 3-5: Drying & Flaking
As your lips begin to heal, they may start to peel or flake. This is a natural part of the healing process as the outer layer of skin sheds. It’s important not to pick or scratch the peeling skin to avoid uneven pigment healing.

Week 4-6: Full Healing
After about 4-6 weeks, the colour will settle into its final shade. By this time, your lips should appear vibrant, even, and naturally enhanced. However, some areas may not retain pigment as well, which is why a touch-up session is often recommended.

Important Tips:

  • Moisturize: Keep your lips hydrated using the aftercare ointment or lip balm provided.

  • Avoid sun exposure: Protect your lips with sunscreen to prevent premature fading.

  • No picking or scratching: Let the scabs naturally fall off to ensure even healing and avoid pigment loss.

  • No kissing, rubbing or friction on your newly tattooed lips.

  • Avoid water on the new pigmented areas as much as possible, the first 7 days. (when showering, washing face, etc. have ointment on the pigmented area to protect lips from water). Do not stand in front of shower head when showering.

  • Lips may be dry for 3 to 6 months depending on the body reaction.

Healing times can vary based on individual factors like skin type and lifestyle, but following the aftercare instructions will help ensure the best results.
